Good Morning!

It's Saturday and that means a day of college football and broadcasting. I will be heading to the Kentucky/Western Kentucky game at Commonwealth Stadium at 5 pm for the 7 pm game. It should be a good one as Kentucky will have one more NONCONFERENCE game before next weeks beginning of SEC play.

Last time up in the booth I met a variety of different people....One insider in the CLEVELAND BROWNS organization told me that he thought BRADY QUINN should be the starter...(THAT WAS BEFORE THE BROWNS TOOK ON PITTSBURGH WEEK 2) and now what is it looking like? Brady will likely be the QB if the Browns lose again tomorrow....

ALSO, the Bowls have began their selection process as the CAPITAL ONE BOWL visited Lexington to view the Cats wild victory over the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders...what will happen this week is anyones guess!

Now, for some COLLEGE FOOTBALL PICKS...
There are just a few BIG GAMES this week and here are my SELECTIONS as I will chose all SEC action and one game per conference for the day...

BIG 10- NORTHWESTERN over IOWA
PAC 10- UCLA over FRESNO ST(25)**UPSET SPECIAL**
ACC- Miami over North Carolina
Big 12- Oklahoma over TCU
Big East- South Florida(13) over Nc State

EXTRA- ILLINOIS(22) over Penn STATE(12)***UPSET 2**

SEC PREDICTIONS--
F
LORIDA o Ole Miss- This game will not even be close...FLORIDA will cruise to an easy victory..TEBOW will PRODUCE BIG

AUBURN o Tennessee- The FIRE COACH PHIL FULMER chants will be GROWING EVEN LOUDER!

TEXAS o ARKANSAS- Arkansas is rebuilding..they are the WORST in the SEC

South Carolina o UAB- SC has struggled, but look for them to BLOW OUT UAB

LSU o Miss ST- Les Miles looks like he has found his quarterback...TIGERS roll

GEORGIA(3) o Alabama(8)- GEORGIA's third straight BIG GAME...but this one is IN ATHENS and they plan on BLACKING OUT THE STADIUM...LITTLE THINGS like that matter in college towns and amongst the teams...GEORGIA by ATLEAST 8!

Kentucky o Western Kentucky---

Kentucky comes off the week off with some adjustments made in trouble spots and re-open play with the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers.

This game will be the Cats last dress rehersal before a rugged SEC schedule. Following an atrocious kicking performance by junior Lones Seiber, Head Coach Rich Brooks opened up competition to the Kicking position and a newcomer came out the winner. Red Shirt Freshman Ryan Tydlacka won the kicking competion and will handle the field goal duties for the first time in his collegiate career as Seiber will keep his job as extra point kicker.

The Wildcats will also look different on the offensive side of the ball. In a recent interview with Offensive Coordinator Joker Phillips he said that, “ The major difference in the receiver situation is that the younger guys will be getting more reps, while the older and more veteran players will be getting less.” Phillips continued to discuss his frustrations on the offensive side of the ball and explained how it has been hard for him to not have such talent and experience that he had last season.

ALSO, Coach Rich Brooks confirmed that left tackle and offensive line leader Gary Williams will start. This will be his first action since the opener in Louisville when he injured his knee.

Kentucky’s opponent is a local rival that is only 150 miles away. But spanning the 150 year history of both schools they have never met. Kentucky must be wary of the Hilltoppers, as they field 40 Kentucky natives on the team that would love nothing more than to prove to the Big Blue that they were not someone to be passed up.

The HIlltopper team also runs a two quarterback system, with KJ Black and David Wolke. Black will get the start as he has more offensive fire power and can create plays out of nothing with his legs. Wolke is a transfer who got his start at Notre Dame. Both quarterbacks can pose problems for the Kentucky defense if not careful.

Western Kentucky is battled tested, having already faced BIG 10 Indiana and SEC’s Alabama. Last week, the Hilltoppers crushed in-state rival Murray State 50-9 and is 2-2 overall.

KEYS TO VICTORY-

Kentucky’s success hinges on the offense. Hartline came into his own against Middle Tennessee and won the SEC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance. He now MUST continue his progression and have another BREAK OUT GAME for the CATS to be prepared for SEC play beginning NEXT WEEK>

The DEFENSE must come prepared. KJ Black is a running quarterback that can pose problems for the defense. They must stick to their keys and stay aggressive to get the victory.

OVERALL PREDICTION-

I see Kentucky coming off the BYE WEEK hot but the Western Kentucky players want to play spoiler to the MAJOR KENTUCKY UNIVERSITY… SO, I do see a closer game than expected. But the Wildcats do out match the Hilltoppers in experience and athletic ability and therefore, the Cats should wake up tomorrow 4-0 and hopefully a top 25 ranking.

PREDICTION: Kentucky 24 Western Kentucky 13
